Lee Francois Wins Derby Final at 2018 Summer Spectacular

Lee Francois brought the house down with his thrilling win in the Open Derby Championship at the 2018 Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular.
Lee and The Animal dominated the cows at every turn to notch up a 228 ahead of Reserve Champion Adan Banuelos & Catillac Reys’ score of 225.5.
An emotional Lee told CHTO’s Simone Cobb it’s been a roller coaster year since the pair was Reserve Futurity Champions, making this victory all the sweeter.

Jim Vangilder Clinches Ltd NP Derby at 2018 Summer Spectacular

Jim Vangilder snagged his second major victory of the year after clinching first place in the Limited Non Pro Derby Final at the 2018 Summer Spectacular.
Jim and Take It Eazee marked a 220 to take the lead over Reserve Champion Lauren Minshall on CR Sister Tuff with a 218.
Jim told CHTO’s Simone Cobb the horse made it easy having only just showed him for the first time at the Summer Spectacular.

Justin Chalmers Wins Ltd Open Derby at 2018 Summer Spectacular

Justin Chalmers has put his stamp on the Limited Open Derby Final at the 2018 Summer Spectacular taking out the title two years running.
Justin rode Reystylin Smooth to mark a 2220.5, ahead of Reserve Champion Kevin Walden on Couture De Force who scored 219.
Justin told CHTO”s Simone Cobb he’s feeling confident going into the open Derby Semi finals on the horse that he trained.

Langston Pattillo Wins Unltd Amateur CL/CH Final at Summer Spectacular

Langston Pattillo won an impressive trifecta when he took out the Unlimited Amateur Classic Challenge at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.
The 16-year-old and partner High Stylin CD came out third to last in the second set to steal the show with a 222.5.
Langston has now won three titles in the famed Will Rogers Coliseum this year!
He told CHTO’s Simone Cobb his horse has earned a well-deserved break.
There was a 3-way tie for Reserve Champion between Carol Anderson Ward, Danny Jones and Janet Trefethen who all marked 218.

Isidro Sigala Clinches Unltd. Am Derby At 2018 Summer Spectacular

Isidro Sigala was proudly flying the flag for Venezuela after winning the Unlimited Amateur Derby Championship at the 2018 Summer Spectacular.

Issy rode Safari Smooth Cat to mark 216.5 in a tough final ahead of Reserve Champion Russ De Cordova on Lucille Russell with a 215.5.

Issy told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he’s the third Venezuelan to win at the Will Rogers recently following David Taurel’s win at the Futurity in December last year and Nelson Vivas’s victory at the Super Stakes in April.

The 16-year-old looked like a pro aboard High Stylin CD to mark 223, two points ahead of Taylor Worley on Blitzkat.
Langston told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he has a special relationship with his horse.

Cash Carpenter Claims 2018 Amateur Derby at Summer Spectacular

Cash Carpenter was over the moon with his win in the Will Rogers when he took out the Amateur Derby title at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

The 17-year-old rode Iggy Katzalea to mark a 218, edging out Kristin Spencer Morias on Wherever I May Roan by half a point.

Cash told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he named his horse after one of his favorite singers Iggy Azalea.

Steve Anderson Dominates Non Pro Classic Final at 2018 Summer Spectacular

Steve Anderson made it two for two when he won the Non Pro Classic Challenge Final at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

Steve dominated the final aboard Littlemak to mark a 223, five points ahead of Reserve Champion, Carol Anderson Ward on Crafty With Cows.

The pair won the same event at the Super Stakes in April. Steve told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he’s having a blast showing such a great horse.

Carly Chiarelli Claims 2018 Summer Spectacular Ltd Non Pro Classic Challenge

Humble, grateful and overjoyed was how Carly Chiarelli felt after her win in the Limited Non Pro Classic Challenge at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

Carly rode Olive Martini and marked a 222, leading the field by 5 points.

Carly, who works for Matt and Megan Miller, told CHTO’s Simone Cobb that the couple were mentors to her and were a big part of her success.

Carly purchased the mare, a Metallic Cat out of Martinis Miss Peppy, from the Millers.

Gentry Gonsalves was the Reserve Champion on Georgia Bootlegger with a 217.

Terry Hollis surpassed the $600,000 mark in earnings with his victory in the Limited Open Classic Challenge at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

Terry marked a 222 aboard Isabella Rey to win the final by two points ahead of Glynn Whitman on Reyvinmetallicat.

Terry told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he was thrilled with the win especially for the horse’s owner, Paul Thompson.

Justin Chalmers Runs Away With Ltd. Open Derby Championship at 2017 Summer Spectacular

He came, he cut, he conquered! Justin Chalmers owned the Limited Open Derby Final in the 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular.
He rode HC Herd Boss to lay down an exciting 225, some 6 points ahead of second place!

The horse is owned by Eddie and Barbara Young and is bby Herding Cats out of Chinosa Rey.
Justin told CHTO’s Simone Cobb, he was excited about winning his first ever final at the Will Rogers.

Reserve went to Brett McGlothlin on Somethingtobelievein with a 219.

Bella Anderson and Jennifer Rector Share Amateur Classic Title at 2017 Summer Spectacular

It was a tussle for first place in the Amateur Classic Challenge Championship at the 2017 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth with the title being shared between Jennifer Rector from Rogersville, MO and Bella Anderson, from Victoria, TX.

Jennifer rode Smooth Reyn first out in the first set of a large final of 34 competitors to lay down a solid run of 218.

Her mare is by Smooth As A Cat out of Ruby Reyn.

Jennifer told CHTO’s Simone Cobb she felt like a rock star showing and winning her first major title in the Will Rogers.

Both competitors take home more than $7,300 in earnings for the win.

Thirteen year old Bella Anderson made cutting look easy when she showed The Reyl McCoy and matched Jennifer’s score.

The Reyl McCoy is by Dual Rey out of Cool The Engines.

Bella told CHTO’s Simone Cobb it was the first time she had ever shown the horse.

Third place went to Kim Davis on Red Solo Catt with a 217.

Sue Christensen Dominates Amateur Derby Final at 2017 Summer Spectacular

Despite a whirlwind schedule, Sue Christensen from Walton, NE, still managed to dominate the Amateur Derby Final at the 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular.
Sue rode Auspicious Ruby Cat to mark 219, some four points ahead of the field. Sue and her horse, by Auspicious Cat out of Ruby Mate, took home more than $5,000 for the win.
She told CHTO’s Simone Cobb a simple yoga technique helped her relax and win her first major aged championship.

Ryan Smith won Reserve Champion on Suen Or Lator with a 215.

Joe Howard Williamson Victorious In Non Pro Classic at 2017 Summer Spectacular

It was a sweet victory for four time World Champ Joe Howard Williamson when he won the Non Pro Classic Challenge at the 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

That’s because it’s the first time he’s won in the Will Rogers! Joe rode Miz Savanah Ichi and crept past Kristen Galyean by half a point to win with 221.5.

Miz Savanah Ichi is by Cat Ichi out of Snicker Roo. The pair won more than $16,500 for first.

Joe Told CHTO’s Simone Cobb a valuable tip he learned was to keep your horse in the middle of the pen.

Kristen won Resreve on Button Down Supercat and third was taken by Nadine Payne on Velvets Revolver who scored 220.

Grant Setnicka Claims Open Classic Final at 2017 Summer Spectacular

It was a humble Grant Setnicka who hit a career high when he clinched the final of the Open Classic Challenge at the 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular.

Grant and Ichis My Choice pulled out some big stops to mark 229, some 6 points ahead of the field.

Grant and Ichis My Choice won 2016 Horse of The Year when she was just a four year old. Ichis My Choice is by Cat Ichi out of My Little Abra. With this win, the horse will surpass $300,000 in earnings.

Thanking his team and J Five Ranch, Grant told CHTO’s Simone Cobb his first major win in the Will Rogers hadn’t quite sunk in yet.

Beau Galyean won the Reserve buckle on Metallic Rebel with a 223, and James Payne came third aboard PG Heavily Armed.
