Isidro Sigala Clinches Unltd. Am Derby At 2018 Summer Spectacular

Isidro Sigala was proudly flying the flag for Venezuela after winning the Unlimited Amateur Derby Championship at the 2018 Summer Spectacular.

Issy rode Safari Smooth Cat to mark 216.5 in a tough final ahead of Reserve Champion Russ De Cordova on Lucille Russell with a 215.5.

Issy told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he’s the third Venezuelan to win at the Will Rogers recently following David Taurel’s win at the Futurity in December last year and Nelson Vivas’s victory at the Super Stakes in April.

Rocky Davis Wins 2018 Super Stakes Unlimited Amateur Derby

Rocky Davis is on track to becoming a triple crown champion after dominating the Unlimited Amateur Derby at the 2018 Super Stakes. Rocky and Redneck Creyzy laid down a 222 to win with a lead of 5 points. It’s the same event the pair took out at the 2017 Futurity. The Canadian competitor told CHTO’s Simone Cobb, he’s excited to come back for the Summer Spectacular to try. Traci Shehady is the Unlimited Amateur Derby Reserve Champion with a 217 on You Cant Buy Love.

Carol Anderson Ward Claims Unltd. Amateur Derby Crown At 2017 Summer Spectacular

Carol Anderson Ward was chuffed to claim her first Triple Crown event when she topped the scoreboard in the Unlimited Amateur Derby Final at the 2017 Summer Spectacular.

Riding Crafty With Cows, Carol from Rancho Murieta, CA, marked a 220, the highest score of the day across three finals.

She told CHTO’s Simone Cobb she’s enjoyed a lot of success with her horse that’s well and truly lived up to its name, with more than $200,000 in LTE.

Kadie Weeks Hermes won Reserve Champion on Reytalic just a half point behind Carol.

Doug Pritchett Victorious in Unltd. Amateur Derby at 2016 NCHA Summer Spectacular

Doug Pritchett was the epitome of patience persevering after winning the Unlimited Amateur Derby Championship in the 2016 NCHA Summer Spectacular.

Doug, who has been cutting since 1978, took out his first major title in the Will Rogers on Dual Glen Rey 012 by marking a 219.5.

Dual Glen Rey is a Dual Rey out of Stylish Amanda. The pair won more than $8,000 for their win over a field of 28 finalists.

From Quinlan, Texas, Doug also got a second horse, Baer, into the final. He told CHTO’s Simone Cobb it was a proud night.

The Reserve Championship was shared between Bear Davis who rode Red Solo Catt and Susan Koser on DMAC Moveslikejagger after both scored 218.5.
