Steve Anderson Dominates Non Pro Classic Final at 2018 Summer Spectacular

Steve Anderson made it two for two when he won the Non Pro Classic Challenge Final at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

Steve dominated the final aboard Littlemak to mark a 223, five points ahead of Reserve Champion, Carol Anderson Ward on Crafty With Cows.

The pair won the same event at the Super Stakes in April. Steve told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he’s having a blast showing such a great horse.

Terry Hollis Wins 2018 Summer Spectacular Ltd Open Classic Challenge

Terry Hollis surpassed the $600,000 mark in earnings with his victory in the Limited Open Classic Challenge at the 2018 Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.

Terry marked a 222 aboard Isabella Rey to win the final by two points ahead of Glynn Whitman on Reyvinmetallicat.

Terry told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he was thrilled with the win especially for the horse’s owner, Paul Thompson.

Austin Shepard Claims the Derby Crown at the 2017 Summer Spectacular

Austin Shepard was a man with a purpose when he came out last in the final to lay down the most exciting run of the Open Derby at the 2017 Summer Spectacular.
Austin had the crowd on the edge of their seats as he and Sir Long Legs shut down one cow after another to mark a 229! Reserve Champion, Matt Miller had been holding the lead at 224 on Metallic Smart Cat until Austin crossed the timeline.
He told CHTO’s Simone Cobb his first Derby Championship in the Will Rogers felt very special.


Paula Woods Takes Out Non Pro Derby at 2017 Summer Spectacular

No Stranger to winning, Paula Woods from Stephenville, TX, claimed another victory when she took out the Non Pro Derby at the 2017 Summer Spectacular.
Paul scored a 219.5 aboard Suen Too Be Black and pocketed more than $18,500.
She told CHTO’s Simone Cobb she’s often spontaneous in the herd but this time was glad she decided to cut to plan instead!


Cole Rothwell Crowned Ltd. Non Pro Derby Champion at 2017 Summer Spectacular

You could say Cole Rothwell was victorious in his own Game Of Thrones when he was crowned Limited Non-Pro Derby Champion at the 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular.
Cole rode Khaleesi Cat and marked 221 to defeat the field by 3.5 points. Khaleesi Cat, (named in reference to the hugely popular TV show referred to above) was sired by Jazarell Cat out of Bobbie Boonsmal.
Cole told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he was excited about his first victory since taking a five year break from cutting.

Reserve champion went to Lica Pinkston who Stylish Top Brow and scored 217.5.


Justin Chalmers Runs Away With Ltd. Open Derby Championship at 2017 Summer Spectacular

He came, he cut, he conquered! Justin Chalmers owned the Limited Open Derby Final in the 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular.
He rode HC Herd Boss to lay down an exciting 225, some 6 points ahead of second place!

The horse is owned by Eddie and Barbara Young and is bby Herding Cats out of Chinosa Rey.
Justin told CHTO’s Simone Cobb, he was excited about winning his first ever final at the Will Rogers.

Reserve went to Brett McGlothlin on Somethingtobelievein with a 219.


Madison Flynn Claims 2017 NCHYA Junior Scholarship Cutting

Madison Flynn from Weatherford, TX dominated the 2017 NCHYA Junior Scholarship Cutting in Forth Worth.
The 11 year old marked a 223 on Cat Man Blue in the final, after posting her best score yet in the go round of 226.
Maddie spoke to CHTO’s Ruby Cobb about how she followed her dad Sean Flynn’s advice to not mess up!


Katherine Vanboekel Wins Unltd Amateur Classic at 2017 Summer Spectacular

Hauling all the way from Ontario, Canada, Katherine Vanboekel conquered the Unlimited Amateur Classic Final at the 2017 Summer Spectacular.
Katherine clinched first place aboard Wendels Little Missy scoring a 221, then came seventh on Sweet EE motion with a 215.5. She took home almost $21,000 for her efforts.
She told CHTO’s Simone Cobb that her first win in a Triple Crown event was a dream come true.

Jimmy Baros from Blanco, TX won the Reserve Championship on Two Time Dual with 218.


Ryann Packard Wins 2017 NYCHA Junior Youth World Championship

After a tough year of hauling and competition, Ryann Packard from Sun City, KS, made it all worthwhile when she claimed the 2017 NYCHA Junior Youth World Finals at the Summer Spectacular.

Ryann, who came into the event with a 14 point lead, rode Sir Stylish Lizzy to mark 211 in the final and claim the championship.

Things didn’t always go her way in the go rounds, scoring 199 and 200.

She told CHTO’s Ruby Cobb that she had a lot of fun throughout youth week.

Reserve champion was Faith Farris who rode Quite The Fat Cat and finished the year 11 points behind Ryann.


Jessica Feiner Wins 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular Classic Ltd Non Pro

Jessica Feiner from Colorado made it two for two when she took out the 2017 NCHA Limited Non Pro final in the Classic Challenge at Fort Worth.

Jessica and her horse B Nimble stayed glued to their second cow to mark a 220.5 to win by more than 3 points.

The pair won the same title at the Super Stakes earlier this year! They claimed more than $9,000 for first place, taking Jessica’s total earnings to more than $175,000. B Nimble, by Dual Smart Rey, has now won more than $40,000.

Jessica told Simone Cobb she’s excited about the future of her horse which has another year in the aged events.

Reserve Champion went to Michael Kemna on Ruby Shadow Cat with a 217, and third place was taken by Ryann Packard on
Peptos Scootin Man scoring 215.5.


Tatum Rice Victorious in 2017 Super Stakes Open, Making History

Tatum Rice made history last night when he won the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes open final.

All three generations of the Rice family have now won at least one major title in the famed Will Rogers coliseum. You could easily say the Rices are cutting’s most successful family in the sport.

Tatum rode Hashtags and marked a 220 that couldn’t be beaten.

Tatum told CHTO’s Simone Cobb he had a good feeling coming into the final.

Tatum took home just over $74,ooo for the win, taking his lifetime earnings to more than $1.43-million.

It was a close contest with Clay Johnson clinching Reserve just half a point behind on Melting Snow. James Payne came in third with Hot Revolver on a 219.


Lindy Ashlock Crowned 2017 Super Stakes Non Pro Champion

Lindy Ashlock notched up the top score of the Derby to claim the Non Pro Championship at the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes.

Lindy rode In Reyverse and marked a 222 in the second set to take home just under $40,000.

She told CHTO’s Simone Cobb that the cows made it a tough event overall but she was thrilled with the result.

It was a busy day for Lindy, who after winning the Non Pro, spent the the next two hours preparing her husband’s horse for the Open final.

Lindy has now won more than $1.3-million in lifetime earnings. In Reyverse, a Dual Rey out of Havanna Lights, is now at around $56,000.

Reserve champion went to Brandon Westfall on Laguna Girl by marking 220.5 and Mary Ann Rapp clinched third with Molokai, scoring 219.


Holly Francois Finishes On Top at 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Ltd Non Pro

Holly Francois was elated to win her first major title in the Will Rogers when she took out the limited Non Pro Final at the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes.

Holly, from Murchison, Tx, rode Smart Dual Kat and marked a 217.5, more than 2 points ahead of the field.

Holly, who is married to professional trainer Lee Francois, won more than $11,000, taking her lifetime earnings to $132,000.

She told CHTO’s Simone Cobb she only just purchased the horse before the event and also made the Non Pro finals on it.

Dual Smart Kat is a Dual Smart Rey out of Puddykat.

Becky Galyean on Smooth Little Linda won Reserve with a 215 and Charles Israel came third aboard Twisted Metal marking 213.5.


Joel Colgrove Wins 2017 Super Stakes Amateur Classic

After an exciting four-person run off, Joel Colgrove finished victorious in the Amateur Classic at the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes.

Joel rode Preycious Gem and marked a 220 to beat out Kenny Warner, Jimmy Baros, and Katherine Vanboekel.

All four scored 217 in the final to force the runoff.

Joel told CHTO’s Simone Cobb, despite the extra nerves, he had a lot of fun with the extra run.

All four competitors shared the prize money, each taking home approximately $7,000. By winning the run off, Joel claimed the title, buckle and other prizes.


Rowdy Larson Dominates 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Limited Derby Final!

Rowdy Larson dominated the 2017 Super Stakes Limited Open Final.

Rowdy rode Johnny English to victory scoring a 222 and was Reserve champion aboard Metallic Ina with a solid 217.

Rowdy has now won in excess of $292,000 in lifetime earnings and he spoke to CHTOs Duncan Steele-Park about his first title in the Will Rogers Coliseum.
