Preview: Paul Hansma: Lessons on the Flag and Cattle

Paul reminds non-pro Bob Kingsley of the importance of always thinking stop and make sure your horse stops before you let him turn with the cow. He also instructs his twin daughters on the flag.

Part 1
Paul gets Bob to work his horse with one cow in the arena, allowing him to work in a straight line and keep things slow as they work on trying to get Bob's horse to stop first before letting him turn.
Part 2
Paul gives his twin daughters Cade and McCall a lesson on the flag. They are both riding experienced show horses who want to cheat a little and he uses the flag to help keep things really simple.

How I got started: My dad started our family in 4H. We showed in halter, english and western. Bill Collins and Walter Thiessen were big influences, as well as my dad and Bill Riddle. Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: Not trusting my horse enough.
