2019 NCHA Futurity Champion Gary Bellenfant is true to his roots, as his training philosophy is all about the cow. His ranching roots can be seen in his horses, which display poise, expression and intelligence. In this 4 part series, Gary trains a range of three year olds on sour cattle. It’s a great opportunity to really observe how he handles both the cow and the horse to get the most done in a limited situation. How I got started: I was training reined cow horses, and snaffle bitters. The cutting was really popular in the mid-70s and I ended up getting enthralled with it and I got a situation where I could start showing and it’s just grown since then.
