Preview: Travis Stewart: How To Cow Up Your Two Year Olds

In this great three part series, Travis will show you how to teach a horse to rate the cow with your hand down. He thinks more about the horse’s front end being light and responsive with the cow. Travis doesn’t want to get too caught up in mechanics because it can bind a horse up too much. He is more concerned about forward motion and the horse thinking ‘cow’.

Categories: Training, Two Year Olds.
Part 1
Travis explains how he teaches his 2 year olds to rate and cow up because he thinks more about the front end being light and responsive. He shows you how he uses the outside rein to free up the shoulders.
Part 2
Travis shows you how he fixes a horse that is getting too flat! He also demonstrates a great drill you can do at home to help your horse learn how to work one handed.
Part 3
Travis works a stiff horse and explains how he softens him. This horse has trouble finding the rate and watch how Travis doesn't protect the horse, he simply makes the wrong thing difficult and right thing easy. Great example of allowing a horse to find the rate and cow himself.
