How I got started: We did all of the 4H stuff and it was a progression of disciplines until I started working a horse on a cow and knew that’s what I wanted to do.
Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: That I didn’t haul enough for the world in 2005.
Biggest myth about cutting: That Australians can out-work Canadians! (On a more serious note) I was told that it takes 15 or 20 years to learn how to train a cutting horse! That time frame has certainly shortened (when you see the success young trainer’s have today).
Favorite quote: “Good luck is when preparation meets opportunity.” – Seneca
Most memorable moment in cutting: Winning the Futurity in 1994.
Training philosophy: Take care of the fundamentals.
