Preview: Grant Setnicka: Rewarding the Horse for Any Achievement

Grant demonstrates how he trains his horses to play defense, which allows him to show with more confidence. He works his horses, at times, without a turn-back person, to help take the pressure off and slow things down. Grant does this by driving up to a cow a lot, which helps create caution.

Grant works a 6 year old, with his main focus being accuracy and the horse taking responsibility. He talks about the importance of being able to use your cow side foot to get the horse's attention on the cow.

It's two weeks before the NCHA Futurity and Grant works one of his 3 year old entrants that's a little sensitive and spends a lot of time driving off
Part 3
Grant works a 2 year old and discusses how you can't out muscle a horse and shows us how he develops the stop and back up.

How I got started: I grew up with my first passion, team roping. After a spell in the reined cow horse industry I started cutting when I got the job at Black Rock Ranch. I’ve never worked for a cutting horse trainer but learned from older horses that Marshall Chesrown purchased.
