Madison Flynn from Weatherford, TX dominated the 2017 NCHYA Junior Scholarship Cutting in Forth Worth.
The 11 year old marked a 223 on Cat Man Blue in the final, after posting her best score yet in the go round of 226.

Case rode Little Rey Whirlacat to mark a 224.5, some 2 and a half points ahead of the field.
Case told CHTO’s Ruby Cobb he wants to use his scholarship money to get his realtor’s license.
Ryan Rapp Crowned 2017 NCHA Senior Youth World Champion
July 29th, 2017 by Simone CobbIn his first year hauling for the Worlds, Ryan Rapp from Weatherford, TX was crowned 2017 NYCHA Senior World Champion at the Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.
Ryan came into the finals with an unbeatable 40 point lead. He rode Im Reydioactive and marked 220, & 221 in the go rounds and 219 in the final.
He told CHTO’s Ruby Cobb that he felt proud of his achievement.
Reserve Champion was Christina Huntley who rode Smart Frosty Cat.
Ryann Packard Wins 2017 NYCHA Junior Youth World Championship
July 29th, 2017 by Simone CobbAfter a tough year of hauling and competition, Ryann Packard from Sun City, KS, made it all worthwhile when she claimed the 2017 NYCHA Junior Youth World Finals at the Summer Spectacular.
Ryann, who came into the event with a 14 point lead, rode Sir Stylish Lizzy to mark 211 in the final and claim the championship.
Things didn’t always go her way in the go rounds, scoring 199 and 200.
She told CHTO’s Ruby Cobb that she had a lot of fun throughout youth week.
Reserve champion was Faith Farris who rode Quite The Fat Cat and finished the year 11 points behind Ryann.
Kenli Marvin And Lexi Slaughter – 2016 NYCHA World Champions!
July 30th, 2016 by CHTOKenli Marvin continued her domination of the 2016 NYCHA Senior World Championship where she held onto first place throughout the finals in Fort Worth.
Kenli rode MK Vivian to finish the year on 231 points, four points ahead of Reserve Champion Chaser Crouch.
Kenli scored a 217 and 215 in the go rounds, then a 216.5 in the final to cement her win.
She spoke to CHTO’s roving youth reporter Lance Cooper about her win and her year on the road.
Meanwhile, Lexi Slaughter has won the NYCHA Jr World Championship following the finals series in Fort Worth at the Summer Spectacular.
Despite not having a great finals, Lexi was well ahead for much of the year to finish on 147, some 25 points ahead of Reserve Champion Claire Shelton.
Lexi who rode Frecky Lena Pep plus four other horses, spoke to CHTO’s youth reporter Lance Cooper about her win.
Lane Cooper and Katherine Queen Crowned NYCHA Scholarship Champions!
July 29th, 2016 by CHTOLane Cooper made history when he recorded the highest cutting score ever received in the Will Rogers Arena!
Lane put on a superb display of cutting when he took out the 2016 NYCHA Senior Scholarship event of the Summer Spectacular, notching up a 233!!!
He rode Holly Is Smooth.
Making this story even more interesting is that Lane is a serious roper, not so much a cutter, this being only his second show all year! Lane spoke to his brother Lance Cooper about his plans for the future.
Second place was won by Regan Plendl who marked a 225.5 on C Spot Cut, while third was shared between Blakley Colgrove riding SS Blacks Little Kitty and Marley Wood aboard Donas Suen Boon with a 224.
Meanwhile, it was a right royal showing at the NYCHA Junior Scholarship cutting when Katherine Queen took out the event on Princess And The Pea.
The pair marked a 220, and was Katherine’s first title in the Will Rogers. Lance Cooper interviewed Katherine about her winning run.
Reserve Champion was won by Jaycee Lowery riding Catarose with a score of 218.5 while Cassie Cerny on Belles N Bullets placed third just a half point behind.
Youth Cut Up A Storm For Summer Spectacular Scholarship Finals!

But the young jokester won on pure skill yesterday when he took out the Junior Youth Scholarship Final at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular.
He rode SpookysTimeToShine, and notched up the top score of the whole show so far, an impressive 229!

The crowd went wild when Cade Hansma hit some big stops to take out the Senior Youth Scholarship Final at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular last night!
It was a winning combination of Cade’s youthful confidence and her horse Little Pepto Cat’s experience that saw them score a 225 for victory. Little Pepto Cat has won in excess of $300,000.
The $2,500 scholarship win is perfect timing for 18-year-old Cade, who will attend Weatherford College this fall. Cade and her Dad, Paul Hansma spoke to CHTO’s Simone Cobb.

McCall rode Chex My Cat scoring 222 to clinch the very title her twin sister Cade also won last year. McCall and her proud father, well known trainer Paul Hansma gave an emotional interview to CHTO’s Simone Cobb after the win.

The Youth Steal The Show During Amateur Week At The 2015 Summer Spectacular!
July 27th, 2015 by CHTOIt was a busy week at the 2015 NCHA Summer Spectacular when the Amateur competitors hit the arena to vie for the Classic and Derby titles at Fort Worth.
But what really stood out was not just the number of youth competing in the aged events, but the proportion of them taking home the trophies!
Three out of the four Amateur titles were won by 13 and 15 year old competitors!
Cutting Horse Training Online spoke all the winners after their runs.
Fifteen year old John Brengard out-showed his competition to confidently win the Classic Challenge Amateur Final at the 2015 National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular!
Marking a 219, John won on SDP Hydriven Hicapoo, which saw him earn more than $6,000.
John said he also won the Classic UnLtd. Amateur last year.

It was a breeder’s dream come true when Lica Pinkston won the Amateur Derby Final on a home-raised horse at the 2015 National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.
Lica rode Stylish Metallic Cat, the pair scoring 219 and a half to beat second place getter Greg Abshire by one point. First place earned Lica almost $6,000 in winnings.

There was certainly no paradox surrounding Blakley Colgrove’s convincing win in the Unlimited Amateur Derby Final at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.
Thirteen year old Blakely rode Paradox Cat to mark a 220, a solid five points in the lead. It was a big lineup, with 35 competitors making it to the final. The win earned her more than $6,000 in prize money.

Girl on Fire is an apt description for 13-year-old Blakley Colgrove who not only competed three times at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular yesterday but who took home two titles!
Blakley riding Vespaa was third last out in the 5/6 Yr Old UnLtd. Amateur Final when she stole the lead from Barney Mac Smith and marked a 220.5.
With nerves of steel, Blakley has now won in excess of $308,000!
