Gary Gonsalves realized his dream last night when he claimed victory in the Open Derby Final of the 2015 National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth.
There was a frenzy of whooping and cheering as Gary showed Reyzin The Cash to mark a 227, winning the championship with a 4 point lead!
It’s the first win in the Will Rogers Coliseum for Gary, a long-time trainer who’s won over $3.4-million. He told CHTO’s Simone Cobb how much this win means to him.
Reyzin The Cash is owned by Tom Bailey from Carbondale, Co who Gary trains for at Iron Rose Ranch near Weatherford, TX
Another horse trained by Gary, High Cash Gal, and ridden by Paul Hansma came in fourth in the final with a 220.
Second place in the Derby Final went to Tarin Rice who rode CR Tuff Lucy and scored 223, while third was claimed by Wes Galyean on Button Down Supercat with a 222.
Congratulations to all riders!
