How I got started: I worked for Graham Amos in Australia while at school. I came to the USA when I was 16 to rodeo but got side tracked because I was intrigued by cutting and saw how challenging and technical it was. So I thought, “why not stay and be with the best of the best?” I worked for Graham Amos for four years at Wichita Falls for Crumplers and then spent 12 months working at Tommy Manions. Then I moved to Arlis Justice’s ranch in Hope, Arkansas, where I worked for two years under Grant Simon. I then took over from Grant for eight years and also trained for the public. I moved to Granbury and worked for some Brazilians for two years and am currently working for Beechfork in Weatherford, Tx.
Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: Doing a hot quit when trying to make the Futurity finals.
Biggest myth about cutting: That Canadians can out-work Australians! ( Winston H )
Favorite quote: “As much as you can, as smooth as you can.” – Graham Amos
Most memorable moment in cutting: Winning the Limited Open NCHA Futurity in Fort Worth.
Training philosophy: To train the horse to the best of his ability. To make the horse as good as it can be.
