How I got started: I got started in cutting because I’ve always loved horses.
Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: The biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting is not listening.
Biggest myth about cutting: The biggest myth is that you can’t talk to the winners if you’re new to the sport.
Favorite quote: “Better to cut a bad cow good than a good cow bad.” – Buster Welch
Most memorable moment in cutting: The 1991 Memphis Futurity because I won the Open and Non-Pro on the same day riding Playboys Ruby. Also the 1994 NCHA Super Stakes, I won both the Open and Non-Pro on two different horses, Tap O Lena and Miss Skeeto Lena respectively. These were both great moments as my Dad was still alive and I can still remember the elation in his voice when I called him from my hotel room to tell him how I did.
Training philosophy: My training philosophy is to work the cow!
