Wayne Robinson: Breaking In Colts – Day 2

Wayne brings the colt back into the round pen for its second day of ground work in the lead up to the horse’s first ride. Wayne also points out that what he got done yesterday will be demonstrated today by the horse, good or bad!

Part 1
Wayne doesn't have to rope this colt today to catch him and gets the colt ready for his second saddling. He also talks about why he likes to have a round pen that is not enclosed.
Part 2
Wayne saddles the colt for the second time. If the horse goes to buck, Wayne will keep a hold of him unlike the first time. He also talks about why he is not a big fan of having a horse following you around the arena.
Part 3
Wayne wants his colts to get comfortable with him being above them. He rides another horse to help desensitize the colt and makes sure he can move both the front quarters and hindquarters.
Part 4
He gets on for the first time making sure the colt sees him out of his left eye. Wayne explains the first ride is all about teaching a horse how to pack weight and travel forward.
Part 5
Wayne likes to get out of the round pen pretty quickly as he rides to a larger arena so the colt can stretch out and travel forward. This allows Wayne to begin directing the colt.
