How I Got Started: I showed pleasure horses and competed in many AQHA events as a kid. At age sixteen I rode a cutter for the first time at a friends house in Shelby Ohio, and immediately I went home and told my parents to sell all of my pleasure horse’s because I’m going cutting. Like many other successful trainers I spent seven years at what I call BRU! (Bill Riddle University) to learn how to train and show cutting horses. I then went on to begin my own program training for Rancho Poco in Palmer, Tx, and I now train for the public out of Weatherford, Tx.
Biggest Mistake He Has Made: I’ve made many, but probably the biggest is that when I was younger I tried to make horses fit me! Now I’ve realized you have to identify how a horse works best according to his strengths.
Biggest Myth About Cutting: That you have to have a super star to be competitive. If you train a good cow horse and show well you can compete against the best.
Most Memorable Moment: Making the top five in the 2012 NCHA Futurity Final. And being asked by my mentor Bill Riddle to help him show at the coliseum.
