John gives NCHA Horse of the Year Junie Wood, a maintenance work on the machine. He works any aged horse in a similar fashion, and has the machine on a program to make him watch and pay attention to his position on the cow. The nail you see in part one is used as a reference point and is positioned on the wither of the mechanical cow. John wants to simulate a real cow as much as possible, by having little delay in the stop to help Junie understand to get prepared for the turn. He also makes sure Junie doesn’t back away before the cow turns. He wants her to hold and wait!

John Mitchell
After a childhood spent in the saddle showing in western pleasure, English and cutting, John Mitchell decided early on that dropping the reins was the sport for him. Originally from Australia, Mitchell began riding horses for Winderadeen, a large quarter horse breeder in New South Wales.
