How I got started: My reined cowhorse futurity prospect Commander Mark wouldn’t rein so we went cutting. He was Co Champion in 1983 at my first cutting futurity. I have spent the rest of my life being challenged and tested by this sport.
Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: Training and showing with too much emotion. Emotion clouds judgement.
Biggest myth about cutting: That it’s about trainers rather than horses.
Favorite quote: “Life’s special moments can never be adequately described… only experienced.”
Most memorable moment in cutting: When I won the 2008 NCHA Futurity on Ebs Mia CDee.
Training philosophy: You can learn from everyone, even if it’s not what to do. Enjoy the journey.
