How I got started: I was training reined cow horses, and snaffle bitters. The cutting was really popular in the mid-70s and I ended up getting enthralled with it and I got a situation where I could start showing and it’s just grown since then.

Biggest myth about cutting: The biggest myth that I see today is thinking that a horse needs to know all of this stuff before it even sees a cow.

Favorite quote: “Mistaking activity for achievement.” – Buster Welch

Most memorable moment in cutting: Winning the Futurity in 1995.

Training philosophy: In my opinion less is more. I don’t think we have to do as much as we do, to get the job done. Everyone’s objective ought to be, to refine their way of thinking to get the job done instead of being forceful and harsh.
