Paul trains a horse for what he can be, not what Paul wants him to be. He demonstrates and explains why he likes to work with one cow in the arena at a time, and constantly reminds us of the importance of rate, stop, and turn. Paul wants a thinking horse and likes them to be feeling that cow as soon as the cow comes into the arena. He also touches on why he doesn’t want his horses to lope out of the turn.

How I got started: My dad started our family in 4H. We showed in halter, english and western. Bill Collins and Walter Thiessen were big influences, as well as my dad and Bill Riddle. Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: Not trusting my horse enough.
