Preview: Andrew Coates: Getting the Most Out of the Practice Pen

In this four part series, Andrew works a variety of show horses in the practice pen before he shows them at the Wine Country Cutting in Paso Robles, CA. He says that 90% of the time you will not get the perfect work we all want in the practice pen! His main focus is to get a good connection between the horse and cow, and to make sure his horses are comfortable. Andrew explains how he likes to drive off and is not too concerned where the herd settles in the pen. However he is very mindful that when the cattle start getting pushy, he will then move the herd to a different spot in the arena to help ease the pressure.
