Preview: Matt Gaines: How To Make Great Cuts!

In this three part series, Matt demonstrates a variety scenarios on how to cut cattle according to where they are positioned in the herd. Matt explains why and when you should enter the middle of the herd, to help position your cow on the outside of the herd, to help make a clean decisive cut. Matt also identifies the biggest problem people have when cutting shape!

Part 1
Matt demonstrates how to make your first cut and what you should be aware of when entering the herd. Learn how to drive a cow up through the middle of the herd and see what happens when you try to force a cut too much. Matt shows you how to be patient and learn how to let a cut happen.
Part 2
Matt shows you why entering the middle of the herd on your second or third cut can help drive cattle to the outside, so they are easier to cut. He also demostrates how to cut a cow that is on the inside as your walking up through the herd.
Part 3
Matt uses his feet a lot to support his hands when making cuts and find out what Matt thinks everyone's fear is when it comes to cutting. This video ends with a clinic participant beginning to use Matt's instruction. Watch for the next series to pick up where this one leaves off!
