How I got started: Dad trained cow horses in the 70’s. After high school I worked for Bobby Ingersoll for four years.
Biggest mistake I’ve made in cutting: Not going to work for a cutting horse trainer, it would have made the transition easier.
Biggest myth about cutting: That you don’t have to have cattle to train your horse. Mechanics only get you so far.
Favorite quote: “A bad cow cut good is better than a good cow cut bad.” – Buster Welch Most memorable moment in cutting: The first time I made the Futurity final! In 2000, I won the semis on Spookys Cash.
Training philosophy: There are no short cuts! You need to work the cow, and always work on yourself to get better. You need to have a good team around you with good owners who stick with you through the good times and bad times.
