Michael Cooper fine tunes four of his best three year olds just two days before the Futurity begins in Fort Worth. Three of them semi-final, one finals in the amateur with another finaling in the open. It’s fascinating to see why he does what he does. Michael’s horses have just been to a few pre-works where everything had gotten pretty fast and furious, so Michael focuses on slowing them down and asking for accuracy, something he knows the judges will be looking for.

Part 1

Michael semi-finals this 3 year old and he works on keeping his horse up into the cow because the coliseum in Ft Worth tends to get your horses a little flat.

Part 2

This 3 year old finals in the Amateur and Michael wants accuracy not activity on the cow.

Part 3

Another semi-finalist in the open Futurity. Michael works this horse in a snaffle because it allows him to get more shape in the horses body and wants to keep the horse up against the cow, as she tends to want to get away a little too much.

Part 4

A Futurity open finalist with Michael's assistant trainer Nate Lansford aboard. Michael talks us through what he wants to see Nate do to get this horse ready for the first go round.
