Preview: Kathy Daughn: Calming a Hot Tempered Horse

Kathy Daughn knows how to explain the mechanics of working the flag so that everyone, no matter your levels of experience, can understand everything that is going on and what you’re trying to achieve. In this two-part series, she trains two different but hot-minded horses, on the flag with the aim of teaching them to control their emotions.

Part 1
Kathy works a green and hot-minded four year old mare. She takes her time approaching the flag to create an environment of calm and control. She reveals how to avoid doing excessive loping to settle a horse like this.
Part 2
In part two, Kathy directs her two year old trainer Craig Gillham on another hot-tempered horse. Craig works it on the flag.

How I got started: I wanted to train horses from the time I can remember and never got an opportunity to ride until I was 13. I rode horses through high school.
